2003 Year of Service

Many people spend
their God given days of the year in idleness and with
unprofitable companion. Though, they draw near their grave
each day that passes by yet they have not the mind of Christ
that "The night cometh when no man can work".
God's call to every believer this year is a clear call to
service, because "The time is short".
Only the selfish, unconverted soul will withdraw from
serving God and the service of others this year. Obedience
and faithfulness to God's call result unto selfless service
toward God and brethren and these produces joy and God 's
approval on our lives. Selfishness in service leads to
misery. Withdrawal from God's service and unfaithfulness in
service bring His judgement and chastisement upon the
rebellious. Therefore brethren lift up your eyes and look on
the fields, (your surrounding) for they are white already to
harvest".
1. CLARION CALL TO GOD'S SERVICE Rom. 6 : 16 - 23; I Tess. 1
: 9 - 10; Lk. 16 : 10 - 13; Deut. 6 : 10 - 13. For our
service to be acceptable to God we must be saved through
faith in Christ and be free from sin. We cannot live in sin
and claim to be saved from sin at the same time. Our
worship, prayer, consecration, giving, evangelism, and any
other service can only be acceptable to God when we are free
from sin. Obedience to God's word is indispensable to our
service. We shall be rewarded, not so much according to the
quantity of the work we have done but according to quality
of our service to God. The motive behind our service to God
is a great factor that determines the quality of our kingdom
work. God therefore requires the best that is in us. Our
second best is never good enough.
2. CONSECRATION TO SELFLESS SERVICE 2 Cor. 12 : 15, 5 : 15 -
15; Col. 3: 23 - 25; Eph. 6 : 6 - 8; Gal. 5 : 13. Serving
God means doing His will among men. The love of God within
us compels us to give ourselves unreservedly to soul winning
and the service of others. Faithfulness marks true Christian
service . Such a Christian does not wait for motivation,
commendation or recognition before he render his humble,
willing obedience to God. Willingness to lose our lives to
save others is the mark of true consecration.
3. COVENANT PROMISE FOR SERVANT Deut. 11 : 13 - 21; I Cro.
28 : 9 - 13, 20 Dan. 6 :16 -22 Jhn. 12 : 26.
Conclusion: God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek
and serve Him. There are wages to be given for faithful
service. There is no exception. This is a year of service.
Arise and serve.
