What is Jesus' real name? Shouldn't we be using his original
name rather than call Him Jesus?

I am originally from Belgium and my given name was Robby. Everybody in
the old country still refers to me as Robby, but for obvious reasons I made sure
that my given name was somewhat modified in the new country! Here people
who speak English refer to me as Rob and those who speak French refer to me as
Robert.
Are they wrong for them to address me with a translation of my name?
Not at all. I really prefer it that way! It is the same with the
name of Jesus. What counts more to Him is that we love Him with "all of
our heart, all of our your mind and all of our soul".
It is true, though that Jesus' name in Aramaic (the language of the Israelites
at the time Jesus was born) is yehoshua and the New Testament that was written
in the Greek Koine He is referred as Iesous (The apostles sure had no problems
referring to Jesus in another language!) . The meaning of His name is
what is important, and His name means Salvation of God:
"She will give birth to a son,
and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from
their sins." (Matt 1:21 NIV)
"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst."
(1 Tim 1:15 NIV)

Matthew's gospel was directed to the Jewish people and he wrote; Matthew 1:21
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his
people from their sins.” In Hebrew names depict one's character or destiny.
Yeshua in Hebrew means salvation so in the above verse Yeshua not Jesus was
used. Jesus is the transliteration of Yeshua as Christ is the transliteration of
mashiach which means anointed one. In Hebrew, the Lord's name would read Yeshua
HaMashiach or Jesus the Christ or anointed one. Yeshua was changed to Ious in
Greek then Jesus in English. Names beginning with the "y" sound in Hebrew are
replaced with "J: in English and "i" in Latin or Greek like Joel is Yoel and
Jeremiah is Yermiyahu or Joseph is Yosef. That's why on the cross INRI in Latin
stood for Yeshua or Jesus king of the Jews.

The Bible was not written in English. What we read in the Bible in English
today are translations from other languages. Yeshua is the recognized Hebraic
name that everyone knows, and was His name. What His mother called Him.
The New Testament was written in Greek. The name "Jesus" is found no place at
all in the Scriptures—it is a translation of the Greek name "Iesous" (pronounced
"eeyeh-sooce." "Iesous" came over into the Latin "Jesu" (pronounced "yehsoo")
and finally into English as "Jesus."
So in actuality, saying "Jesus" is saying a twice-removed translation of the
name we find in the New Testament Scriptures.

Jesus Christ is God. As such He is infinite and may be properly designated by
an infinite number of names. Since the Godhead (Trinity) is the Creator, all
things, in some sense, bear His Name. He described Himself, at one point,
Jn.14.6, as THE way, THE truth and THE life. There is but one Way to salvation;
Mt.28.20; one Truth to be known, Rom.10.16, one source of Life, Heb.5.9; all
acknowledged at Jn.6.68 with, "...Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words
of eternal life...You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." TBS

We should call him Jesus Christ or Holy son.

He had a Hebrew name, Yay-shu-a, not an English name.

* What is Jesus' real name? Shouldn't we be using his original name rather
than call Him Jesus? Both name
* Isaiah 7:1 NIV *
The Sign of Immanuel] When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of
Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to
fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.
* Isaiah 7:14 NIV
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child
and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
* Isaiah 8:8 NIV
and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to
the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, O Immanuel !"
* Matthew 1:23 NIV
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call
him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us."

JESUS has many names in the Bible. About 125, which are all descriptive
names, such as The Word, “The Alpha and Omega”, The only Begotten Son , “The
Father of Eternity” etc, etc. All these names add up to one name WHICH is
“I AM”
To Abraham, HIS Friend, God could reveal only as The EL SHADDAI. HE could not
reveal HIMSELF as YHWH at that time.(Ex6:3-8).HE had to wait for an ideal
situation to demonstrate that name.
In the same manner God had to wait for the fullness of time to reveal HIS love
to all nations, HE came down not in the thorny bush as fire (Ex3:14), but on the
cursed tree as a sacrificial lamb, consuming the Wrath, which should fall on all
mankind, in the name of son of man “The Second Adam”, the proto type that
existed thru, all eternity, namely, I AM THAT I AM WHO is JESUS.
We do not take the original name YHWH (Hebrew for I AM THAT I AM), because in
the New Covenant, when God demonstrated HIS love (agape), we do not approach
with the old order of Mosaic laws ,but with the new commandments written in our
hearts, crying Abba Father, enabled by the HOLY SPIRIT, given to us freely (Rom
5:5-8)
…..thru JESUS ,we (both Jews & Gentiles) have access by one SPIRIT unto the
FATHER.

One of the many names ascribed to Him in scripture is Jehovah (ASV). This
relates to Yahweh and often equates with Elohim. At Rom.8.9-11 He shares His
Christ title with the Holy Spirit.
I like His Name in 1 jn.4.8 the best. God is agape- that selfless, persistent
love which seeks solely the long-range best interests of the loved one - at
whatever cost to the one loving. Because, omniscient, knowing all - even the
future, he went ahead and created us, knowing we would fall and that He would
have to become, first a fertilized egg in His earthly mother's womb; then a
victim of agonizing torture and death. But He chose to love us, though we did
not yet exist, so much that He created us anyway. That's agape. God is Love;
Jesus is God; ergo, Jesus is agape.

The Savior's real name is Y'hoshua, usually shortened to Yeshua. The
Messiah's name is Y'hoshua (shortened to Yeshua) and it means ADONAI SAVES. In
Mattityahu (Matthew) 1:21 it says "She will give birth to a son, and you are to
name him Yeshua, [which means 'ADONAI saves'] because he will save his people
from their sins. (Mattityahu 1:21 Complete Jewish Bible)

Jesus is known by several names in scripture. There's Emmanuel in Matt. 1:23
which means GOD with us. Then there's Jesus in Matt. 1:25 which means GOD is my
salvation. He's also known as the great physician, the good shepherd, the lamb
of GOD, etc. Jesus is the name given Him by Joseph at His birth. Jesus is the
new testament name which is the same as the old testament name of Joshua. Jesus
is the English pronunciation of the new testament's name Iesous. Jesus is His
real name.
