Does God still heal in this present day?

I have been a Christian for over thirty years, as a matter of fact if the
Lord tarries and I live, it will not be too long until I will move into my
fourth decade as a born again child of God.
During those years I have bee a prodigious reader of religious material. I have
read behind some of the most fundamental and some of the most liberal writers
and I can attest to the fact that you can find about anything you wish when it
comes to religious writings concerning Christianity.
Some have written that we can demand anything of God. He will be obligated to do
that which we desire. Then there are others that see God as a theosophical being
that must be considered in the abstract and not a literal living God.
I for one belief that the Holy Word of God the Bible must be the one and only
book that we consider as an authority on God, simply because I believe the Holy
Bible to be The God Breathed book of God.
I believe God’s Holy Spirit breathed on the men of old and they wrote down that
which the Holy Spirit directed. The theological term for what I believe would
be, Plenary Verbal Inspiration. (Plenary means absolute)
Now does the Bible teach that the Lord heals even today in what would be
considered modern times. To answer the question let us look to the Bible.
First there is spiritual healing of the soul. Every person that is a Christian
has experienced this healing.
Psalms 41:4 "I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned
against thee."
Psalms 147:3 "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds."
The gift of healing, is it real?
Matthew 10:1 "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them
power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of
sickness and all manner of disease."
Mark 3:15 "And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:"
Mark 16:18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it
shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
1Corinthians 12:9 "To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of
healing by the same Spirit."
What of physical healing of the body?
Jesus healed.
Matthew 4:23 "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,
and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and
all manner of disease among the people."
Matthew 8:3 "And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be
thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed."
The Apostles healed.
Acts 5:16
There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem,
bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they
were healed every one.
Acts 9:34 "And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole:
arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately."
Acts 28:8 "And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever
and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on
him, and healed him."
But does God heal today?
The service was started and the congregation was singing and Joe arose with his
baby in his arms and walked up to me. I leaned over and he said, Pastor my baby
is burning with a fever. I stopped the singing and called the elders to the
front and we anointed the child and as I was praying with the elders and my hand
was on the child’s forehead, his skin cooled to the touch. Praise God we had
church then!!
Her name was Marie, she came forward on a Sunday night and asked to be prayed
for as her doctors had told her of a dreaded disease in her body, and we
anointed her and prayed. Something unusual happened, I suddenly had the insight
that the healing was done and I said as much out loud. Many by their own
admission later, did not think much of my saying this. The following Wednesday
night she stood with trembling, tears and shouts of glory and related how the
doctors could not find the disease. She lived disease free for a number of years
before she went to be with the Lord.
My wife had a broken hip and God miraculously instantly healed her and proved
himself to an agnostic medical doctor in answer to simple prayer. (The entire
account of this can be read on the Answer2Prayer.org website)
His name was George and he was possessed with a demon and God released him in
answer to prayer as I prayed over him.
Another was named Louis and God delivered him from demon possession in answer to
prayer.
Three times in my ministry I have dealt with demoniacs and two were saved and
one walked away growling like a wild animal.
I have seen many come to Christ as a direct result of intercessory prayer though
the years.
There have been many instances of divine healing and direct answers to prayer in
these years of my ministry. The stories could go on and on, but I believe I have
made my point, God does still heal. He heals souls and He heals bodies and He
supplies needs. I believe the only hindrance to what God can and will do in this
modern age in which we live, is the hindrances that our lives and lack of faith
puts upon Him.
Let me give you one verse to close this and prove my point.
Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
Live for Him my friend and watch the wonderful things that He can and will
perform in your life and the lives of those around you.

Oh ye of little faith! If Jesus is eternally present and created this entire
world.......then Jesus word is still eternal today.......remember Isaiah
53........this is a whole account foretold years before the actual crucifixion.
Jesus was whipped [beaten] for our healings. The key word is OUR. That literally
means yours and my healing.
I was snatched three times from the jaws of death, a kidney failure, Guillian
Baree Syndrome and massive infections from a recent operation. I will never ever
forget the goodness of the Lord and HIS hand on my life. Faith is the one word
that will forever stay in my mind when we talk about healing. Faith is not
believing that God can but it is knowing that HE will.

Absolutely He still heals. If He didn't, we wouldn't have all the wonderful
and miraculous people, turning from their evil ways and giving themselves to the
Lord. He is ALWAYS there to heal. He is unchangeable. He doesn't just do things
some of the time. He is an all time great healer and heals continuously. But
what we must remember is that He heals us in HIS way, in HIS time, and in HIS
manner. Our ways may be totally different from the way He sees to do things. And
that is because he is the Alpha and the Omega. He is ALL!!! He knows the bottom
line and outcome of all things, as we do not. So healing to Him may not be
healing to us unless we just wait and have faith.
Some scripture referrals on healing:
John 20:25,37-38 (NIV) Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe.
The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me... Do not believe me unless I
do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me,
believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me,
and I in the Father."
John 3:12 (NIV) "I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe;
how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?"
1John 3:5 (NIV) But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our
sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who
continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Dear children, do not let
anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is
righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has
been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to
destroy the devil's work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin,
because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been
born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the
children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child
of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
1Peter 5:6 (NIV) Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he
may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for
you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a
roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the
faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing
the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his
eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself
restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for
ever and ever. Amen.

Yes, He did 2.000 years ago. Heb 13:8 says He never changes. That He is the
same yesterday today an for ever. So that being the case, I say he sure does
heal today.

Certainly. However we fail to understand why He doesn't answer all prayers
for healing. Yet, we know that God is good and if we love Him He will use even
our pain or infirmities for our good and His glory.

Scripture tells us that God will not leave us nor forsake us (Heb 13:5).
Scripture also says that All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, in
righteousness, that the man of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped for
every good work. (2nd Tim 3:16-17) If the word is profitable for
instruction then we have to believe the scriptures like 1st Tim 2: 3b-4 God our
Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of truth.
Thus meaning that there is a Spiritual healing that takes place, we are healed
from our blindness and we will see the light when we accept Christ as Savior.
James 5:13-16 Is any one among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone among you
cheerful? Let him sing Psalms. Is any among you sick let him call the elders of
the church, and let them pray over him, and anoint him with oil in the name of
the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise
him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your
trespasses one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The
effective fervent prayer a righteous man avails much.
Since scripture is applicable, then we can say that God does heal today if we
are willing to seek it. The healing may not be in the fashion we desire,
nevertheless, it could heal our spirits, our emotions, or even draw us closer to
the Lord.
Remember God loves those who humble themselves and seek His help; just like the
ten lepers they sought out the Lord you too must seek Him out, as He heals you
do not make the mistake of not coming back with a heart of thanksgiving.
God bless you all.

Yes, hallelujah, yes He does. God is still on the throne and still in charge
and no one can convince me of anything different. I will tell you what happened
at our small church.
One of our members was going in the hospital to have a kidney stone pulverized
for it was way too big to pass and he was in a lot of pain. That Sunday morning
the Deacons led him to the alter and the Preacher anointed him as we all prayed.
The next morning the Dr. took another x-ray, as he did on all his patients, just
to double check. Well, you can imagine the surprise when the Dr. could not find
the stone anywhere. Yes, God is still in the healing business!
Miss Ann, a beloved member of our congregation, found out she had cancer in both
breasts. Only a few of us knew for she did not want it well known. We had been
praying for her day and night. After she went into the hospital she let the
Preacher tell the congregation that it was her and that she had a double
mastectomy. We had someone stand in for her at the altar and the Preacher
anointed in Miss Ann's name as we all prayed. The Dr's set up her schedule for
chemo, when Miss Ann went back to discuss all this with her
Dr.............hallelujah, she was cancer free and never took one chemo
treatment.........Yes, God is still in the healing business!
Another beloved member, Brother Jerry, was on a small vacation when he had a
heart attack in another state. His wife, of many years, was beside herself with
grief. Thank God her niece and her husband were also there. They got Brother
Jerry to the hospital. The Dr. told Sister Sarah that Jerry only had a very
small window of hope. Sarah called our Preacher, the word was passed around and
in no time the whole congregation was praying for Brother Jerry. You guessed it,
that small window of hope that the Dr gave..........God threw open the door of
hope. Yes, God is still in the healing business!
Now, on to our Preacher's wife. We got a big scare with Miss Betty, whom we all
love dearly. God did not put a sweeter woman on this earth, than her. She went
for her physical and they found a 75% blockage in her neck. This woman was
worried but not once did she show being scared. Miss Betty said she would not
worry about it, for if it was meant to be; then it would be. They decided to
send her to another Dr. for extensive tests and, God bless her, they found a
spot on her lung. Once again to the altar with all the faith that our little
church could muster. Preacher anointed her with the Deacons standing around and
the whole church praying. When Miss Betty went back for more
test......hallelujah, the spot on her lung was gone and the blockage in her neck
was down to a 5% blockage......Yes, God is still in the healing business!
I could go on with more stories, including one about myself which God deemed to
heal me. As I said before, my church is a small church with a membership of
about 70. Our congregation goes strictly by the Holy Bible. We do not take away
nor do we add any words to God's words. We have a strong faith and truly believe
that God will heal us when we pray. If for some reason the Lord seems fit to
tell us no, then we don't question His almighty decision. We also wait on Him to
heal in His time, not ours. That is what happened with me. I too was anointed
and I waited. I waited in excruciating pain, for the Dr. wanted to operate and I
did not want that. Each day and night I would ask God "if it be Your will Lord,
reach down and touch me and heal me." One day about two months later, it dawned
on me.........hallelujah, I have no more pain. I thanked God over and over for
healing me, as I thanked him for each miracle I witnessed on the other healings
in my church. So the answer to your question......does God still heal in this
present day?.......Yes, God is still in the healing business, and we have a
group of faithful Christians from a small church who can all witness and testify
to that fact. Amen, amen.

Yes!! I'm a 100% disable Vet-Nam vet. I have had my aortic valve replaced, 3
strokes a knee replaced. After my first stroke I could not talk nor walk. The
Dr. told my family I never would. I prayed to God for help. I had to quit work
and was very depressed. I listened to a tape that said now is the time to get in
the word. I now walk and teach a men's bible study and clean the church. God is
not done with me.

Yes. God does heal in this present day. Just in this year alone, I have been
healed of cancer and pulmonary disease. True, I have two wonderful doctors who
have monitored me, but they have given no medical help other than encouragement.
I received two sessions of chemotherapy, vice 12 required. I have been on oxygen
for several months and am being released. No treatment was given.
God has healed me numerous times when no medical help was sought. Once in
particular, friends prayed over me for a severe pain in my leg that would not
leave after many weeks. During the night, I was awakened, feeling a strange
sensation in my leg. The next morning, the pain was completely gone and I knew
that during the night, God had done His corrective surgery.
God healed me of a severe rash that was endangering my life because it was
beginning to go into my eyes and mouth. Much prayer went up for this. One
morning, I discovered some flakes on my blouse and went into the ladies room
where I discovered my face was like baby skin and the rash had left my body
completely.
On another line, God also heals through deliverance. After thirty years of heavy
smoking, I pledged before God that I was not going to live with this addiction.
He saw my heart and in the space of one day while travelling a great distance to
another state, He delivered me instantly and completely. That was 34 years ago
and the desire to smoke has never returned.
So, please know what God has told us that He wants us to prosper in health and
since He is the Great Physician, He knows how to bring it about.

God still heals today and will continue to heal. God's healing is something
altogether special in that His name is glorified and the whole person is
restored in spite of methodology and or instrument.
Healing is a gift from God. God heal through His servants of old (2 king
2:22), His Son Jesus while He was on earth (Matt 9:35) and through men and women
from the time of the early church to present (James 5: 16).
Healing is also a demonstrable ability of the devil and his agents. The act
of healing however, seems to decline on the part of most in Christendom with
exception for some sects. These sects claim divine healing powers, but the
question arises as to whom the glory is given considering the fact that the
devil and his agents perform acts of healing as well (Rev 16:14). God is
faithful to the cause of healing and hence the distinction can be made that the
apparent lack or infrequency of healing is as a result of unfaithfulness on the
part of those to whom the gift has be entrusted or He God in His wisdom has
permitted such. God is still in the business of healing for He says “………for I am
the LORD that healeth thee” (Exd 15:26).

Dear Brethren, Our God is ALL POWER and what is for man difficult, it isn't
for Him. Therefore, if we consider God can't heal nowadays, we are limiting Him
and that is not right. I completely believe GOD IS ALWAYS THE SAME AND HIS POWER
CAN NEVER BEEN REDUCED.

Of course GOD still heals! A few years ago my mom was really sick and she
wasn't in church. The doctors said she wasn't going to make it and she started
praying. A few weeks later she was healed. My mom was so happy we started going
to church!

Surely God still heals, because He is
God He never changes. As he healed in the past, He will always do the same.
But the time and ways He uses to accomplish this can never be measured or
determined by human standards. That's why we cannot say that in this or that
church, in this or that hour, healings will occur. NO ONE can ever say that.
'Thy Will be done', says Jesus, and The Will of God is done when, where and how
it pleases to Him.
So, GOD has the power to heal and continues to do so. Not humans.

AMEN, and PRAISE THE LORD, HE DOES!
Just since last Fall, we have known of three personal friends that have been
completely healed by God!
We have a dear friend in AR, Don, who was literally on his death bed. Hospice
had been called in, and he was almost down to days and hours to live. Helen, his
wife, was having her children stay with them, one at a time, at night, in case
they needed them. Everyone was praying for them! Including your precious
Volunteer, sweet Sarah! Don started rallying, and then was able to start getting
out of bed, eating and walking on his own, and today, he is back to living a
full, complete and a normal life once again! PRAISE GOD!! They call it a
'Miracle' that Jesus has performed! And we have to agree with them!
Here in CA, we have two sisters, one had cancer of the lung and of the colon.
She had the two surgeries on her lung and colon. She is 60 years old, and her
name is Geraldine. The Drs told her on her last visit that they are sure that
they got ALL of her cancer! PRAISE GOD! She had a LOT of people praying for her!
Also, again, your sweet Volunteer, Sarah, was praying for her! And a wonderful
Christian Sister, Brenda, taking care of her!
She has a half-sister named Elsie, who went into a coma. They were not sure why.
The Drs thought she was almost brain dead. She was put on life-support! All of
her five adult children were called to her bedside. They were beginning to make
arrangements for her funeral. The prayers continued to flow by EVERYONE!
Suddenly, little by little, she started to get better! PRAISE GOD, she is now at
her daughter's to be taken care of by her, while she finishes recovering, and
does not remember any of what happened! Her son in FL said 'those prayers made a
believer out of him and now he IS a Christian!' PRAISE GOD!
Do we think God still Heals? You better believe we do! Each and every day! And
He is not about to stop until Jesus returns for us all to come home with him! We
cannot think of any Bible Verses right at this time to back any of this up, all
we know is what we have seen, felt, and know in our hearts all of this to be
true!
Praising Him!

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Last February I was in the hospital with a brain tumor. The tumor was found by
CAT scan and MRI and confirmed through a biopsy. I was sent home to face
chemotherapy and radiation. Many gathered around me, anointing me with oil
according to the word of God, and prayed for me. When I went back to the
neurosurgeon for removal of the staple used after the biopsy, he could tell that
something had changed and ordered a new MRI. When the results came back, he
asked if I had had surgery, and I said "No, only prayer." The tumor was gone,
and the neurosurgeon contacted the oncologist who verified the results and
cancelled the chemo and radiation. Does God still heal? Yes! It is not my
opinion or theology, it what the Lord has done for me. And the healing continues
as what looked like surgery to the surgeon is healing and leaving no scar
tissue.
